Skiing: Off Piste
I love skiing, whatever form it takes. However, nothing can beat the feeling of floating through deep powder, it can be very addictive! When heading off the pistes, it is really important to know where you are going and whether or not it is likely to avalanche.
Every year people are killed by being at the wrong place at the wrong time. My work with Henry’s Avalanche Talk has given me invaluable knowledge about where to go and when, but I would never leave the piste without the correct equipment. If you plan to head off piste make sure you have the correct equipment (Transceiver, shovel, probe and preferably ABS backpack) and know how to use it. For me, it’s worth the risk – just look at what you get to do!
