On Sunday we skinned up to the top of Plaine Joux ski station, looking across to Megeve and skied down just after the pistes had closed to the paying punters. We were accompanied by an increasingly beautiful sunset and our fun-loving dog Bruno – not a bad way to spend an evening!
A nice way to end an enjoyable week’s skiing – a trip down the ENSA couloir with great views down on to Chamonix.
We had a lovely skin up to the summit of Bel Oiseau in Switzerland then a memorable ski down. It was steep and long and really got the legs burning – great fun!
A beautiful day for a tour from Flegere to Buet, skinning up surrounded by breathtaking views and skiing down on top of beautiful snow. What could improve on that for a day out? Well, a beer at the bottom certainly didn’t hurt!
The end of our February week holiday is over, but it has been great while it lasted. I will post a few photos of our exploits over the next few days. One of our first trips was to ski down an untouched vallee blanche – quite a privilege! Unfortunately I didn’t have my camera with me so had to take this with my iPhone. It certainly gives you an idea of how lucky we were though!
A beautiful tour to the Brèche de Bérard in the Aiguilles Rouges
After days of miserable weather the sun finally showed its face today! The lifts aren’t all open yet but the holiday makers are still at work so the slopes are still nice and quiet!
Rich and Tom from Planks clothing were out with us testing some new gear. Not only did it cope with -11c temperatures, it even passed the classic “Moris pub steps test”. They certainly can’t be accused of not being thorough!
Sunday’s skiing was a different tale to Saturday’s. Cold, windy, snowing, poor visibility … but still great fun!
Saturday’s skiing was beautiful. The temperature has been low so the snow was lovely and light. There was also the added bonus of having the place practically to ourselves – who could ask for more?
